The Future Of Fashion Program

THIS SEASON

30 young talents will present their Spring/Summer 2017 collections to a panel of fashion industry professionals.

At the 2016 event, over 20 ready-to-wear designers (either womenswear or unisex) and 10 accessory designers (leather goods, shoes, jewellery and other) who were selected among the other hopefuls.

For the September 2016 edition, the trade shows have chosen Gretchen Harnick, consultant and professor at Parsons fashion school, to help the young designers prepare for the competition. Gretchen directs the Pattern to Plan agency, which supports young talents in the fashion world to build up their business strategy.

During a 90 minute session, Gretchen Harnick will deliver her expertise to the 30 designers on subjects including:

  • Building brand identity
  • Development strategy
  • Approaching a target-clientele
  • Boosting communication networks

HOW IT WORKS

The competition will take place in 3 stages:

Trade shows in September 2016:
The 30 selected contestants showcase their Spring/Summer 2017 collections in Paris from 2nd to 5th September 2016. It is during these trade shows that 15 designers are chosen to proceed to the second stage.

Trade shows in January 2017:
The 15 designers (5 ready-to-wear, 5 accessory and 5 urban wear) present their Autumn/Winter 2017-18 collections. After selection during the January 2017 trade shows, only 3 designers will participate in the final stage of the competition in September 2017.

Trade shows in September 2017:
3 finalist designers (1 ready-to-wear, 1 accessory and 1 urban wear) will be invited to participate for a third time at the trade shows to present their Spring/Summer 2018 collections.

At each stage of the competition, individual interviews will be organised by mentors in order to select which designers will move on to the next stage.

WINNERS OF THE LAST EDITION!

The brands ILKECOP (Fame area – women’s ready-to-wear), MAI-GIDAH (Urban area – unisex ready-to-wear) and ANISHA PARMAR LONDON  (accessories area) managed to win over the mentors as well as international buyers with their creativity and strong commercial potential. In doing so, the three brands became the winners of the second edition of the Future of Fashion Program. These three labels will present their Spring/Summer 2017 collection from the 2nd – 5th September at the Porte de Versailles.
